Hello, guys in this article we are going to discuss how much cement, sand, and aggregate required for M10 grade concrete. We will also discuss how much cement, sand, and aggregate required for 1 cubic meter of M10 grade concrete.
Concrete is available in different grades like M7.5, M10, M15, M20, M25, and Design mix. Where M represents the Mix ratio and the numerical number represents the compressive strength of concrete.
What is concrete
Concrete is a mixture of Cement, Sand, and Aggregate, and Generally concrete is of two types according to its physical condition. One is dry concrete and the second is wet concrete. Dry concrete is only a mixture of Cement, sand, and aggregate. But wet concrete is a mixture of Cement, Sand, Aggregate, and water. Usually, In western Europe and America, Ready mix concrete is sold.
Cement required for 1 cubic meter of M10 grade concrete
As we know for M10 grade concrete 1:3:6 ratio is used. Where 1 part is cement, 3 parts are sand, and 6 parts are Aggregate.
Cement part in the mix = 1/(sum of total proportion).
= 1/(1+3+6) = 1/10
To get the dry volume of concrete we have to multiply in volume by 1.54. Because the dry volume of concrete is always more than the wet volume of concrete.
Dry volume of concrete = Total volume × 1.54.
= 1m3 × 1.54 = 1.54m3.
The volume of cement = Cement part in M10 grade concrete mix × 1.54m3.
= 1/10 × 1.54m3.
= 0.1 × 1.54m3 = 0.154m3.
Now before calculating cement quantity in 1 cubic meter of M10 grade concrete. we have to calculate the volume of 1 bag of cement and 1 bag of cement contains 50 kg of cement.
We know the density of cement is 1440 kg/m2.
So, the volume of 1 bag of cement = 1 bag of cement weight ÷ density of cement.
= 50 ÷ 1440 = 0.0347m3.
The volume of 1 bag of cement is 0.0347m3.
Now, the quantity of cement for 1 cubic meter of M10 grade Concrete = total volume of cement ÷ volume of 1 bag of cement.
= 0.154m3 ÷ 0.0347m3.
= 4.43 Bags.
Therefore 4.43 bags of cement are required for 1 cubic meter M10 concrete.
We know that 1 bag of cement contains 50 kg.
So the cement quantity in kg = 50 × 4.43 = 221.5 = 222 kg.
Therefore 222 cement requires for 1 cubic meter M10 concrete.
Sand required for 1 cubic meter of M10 grade concrete
As we know for M10 concrete 1:3:6 ratio is used. Where 1 part is cement, 3 parts are sand, and 6 parts are Aggregate.
Sand part in the mix = 1/(sum of total proportion).
= 3/(1+3+6) = 3/10
To get the dry volume of concrete we have to multiply in volume by 1.54. Because the dry volume of concrete is always more than the wet volume of concrete.
Dry volume of concrete = Total volume × 1.54.
= 1m3 × 1.54 = 1.54m3.
The volume of sand = sand part in M10 grade concrete mix × 1.54m3.
= 3/10 × 1.54m3.
= 0.3 × 1.54m3 = 0.462m3.
Now before calculating sand quantity in 1 cubic meter of M10 grade concrete. we have to know the quantity of sand in 1 cubic meter.
Sand Quantity in 1 cubic meter = 1600 kg to 1800 kg.
We assume 1700 kg.
So, the quantity of sand = volume of sand in the mix × 1700 kg.
= 0.462 × 1700 = 785 kg.
Therefore 785 kg sand requires for 1 cubic meter M10 grade concrete.
Coarse/ Aggregate required for 1 cubic meter of M10 grade concrete
As we know for M10 concrete 1:3:6 ratio is used. Where 1 part is cement, 3 parts are sand, and 6 parts are Aggregate.
Aggregate part in the mix = 1/(sum of total proportion).
= 6/(1+3+6) = 6/10
To get the dry volume of concrete we have to multiply in volume by 1.54. Because the dry volume of concrete is always more than the wet volume of concrete.
Dry volume of concrete = wet volume of concrete × 1.54.
= 1m3 × 1.54 = 1.54m3.
The volume of aggregate = Aggregate part in M10 concrete mix × 1.54m3.
= 6/10 × 1.54m3.
= 0.6 × 1.54m3 = 0.924m3.
Now before calculating aggregate quantity in 1 cubic meter of M10 grade concrete. we have to know the quantity of aggregate in 1 cubic meter.
Aggregate Quantity in 1 cubic meter = 1500 kg to 1800 kg.
We assume 1600 kg.
So, the quantity of aggregate = volume of sand in the mix × 1700 kg.
= 0.924 × 1600 = 1478 kg.
Therefore 1478 kg Aggregate requires for 1 cubic meter M10 grade concrete.
Water require for 1 cubic meter M10 grade concrete
water required for M10 concrete is 35 to 50% of the cement quantity. It varies between 35 to 50% according to moister condition in sand and aggregate.
Required Cement quantity for 1 cubic meter M10 concrete = 222 kg.
Assume water quantity = 50% of cement Quantity.
required water quantity for 1m3 M10 concrete = 50/100 × 222
= .50 × 222
= 111 kg = 111 Liters.
Therefore 111 liters water requires for 1 cubic meter M10 concrete.
