1 CFT Aggregate/ Ballast/ Gravel Weight in kg

Aggregate is a very important material when you are constructing a concrete structure. Because without aggregate you can not make the concrete mix. Aggregate is also known as Ballast and gravel. Generally, Aggregate is measured in cubic feet. But In the USA, UK, and some Western countries it is also measured in cubic yards. The majority of the time aggregate is measured in cubic feet so we are discussing 1 CFT aggregate/ ballast/ gravel weight in kg.

Since aggregates come in different sizes like 10mm, 20mm, and 40mm. The weight of each aggregate size in 1 CFT is not the same. Since the aggregates of 40 mm are of large size, there are large pores between each particle and it is filled with air. Due to this, the weight of the larger size aggregate would have been less in 1 CFT. Whereas the pores in the smaller size aggregate are smaller due to which more ballast comes. Therefore, the smaller size aggregate weighs more.

The most important material for making any concrete structure is aggregate. And in a concrete mix, aggregate is added more than the other material. Aggregate is the material that is most commonly mined on earth today, and mostly aggregate measured in CFT. In such a situation, you should know how many kg aggregate in 1 CFT.

Generally, it is seen that fine aggregate is less than 4.75 mm in size and also contains sand and clay silt. Whereas the size of coarse aggregate can range from 4.75 mm to 256 mm.

But all sizes of aggregates have one thing in common they are measured in CFT.

1 CFT aggregate/ gravel weight in kg

The weight of the aggregate depends on the density of the aggregate. And the density of different sizes of aggregate is different. In general, the density of the aggregate ranges from 1550 kg/m3 to 1850 kg/m3.

The density of small-sized aggregate is higher than the density of large-sized aggregate because smaller-sized aggregates are denser. But we will take the density of the aggregate as 1680 kg/m3 for our calculation.

Since the Density of aggregate is 1680 kg/m3 it means the aggregate weight is 1680 kg in 1 cubic meter.

In 1 cubic meter, there are 35.3147 CFT.

According to both the points mentioned above 1680 is equal to 35.3147.

Then, 1 CFT aggregate weight in kg = 1680 / 35.3147 = 47.57 kg.

How many CFT in 1-ton gravel/ aggregate

Aggregate is a very important material for any construction. So we need to measure the aggregate and to measure the aggregate we will need the density of the aggregate. The density of aggregate is 1680 kg/m3 and it can be slightly less or more depending on the size of the aggregate. Here we have to calculate how much aggregate is in 1 ton of aggregate.

The density of Aggregate = 1680 kg/m3, which means In 1 cubic meter there is 1680 kg aggregate.

We know that 1 cubic meter is equal to 35.32 CFT.

So, 1680 kg (1.68 ton) = 35.32 CFT.

1 kg = 35.32 / 1680 CFT

So, 1000 kg = 1000 (35.32/1680)
= 1000 × 0.021
= 21.023 = 21 CFT.

1-ton stone chip equals 21 CFT.
